New H1N1 Vaccination Guidelines for Children

New H1N1 Vaccination Guidelines for Children

The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care of Ontario and the Public Health Agency of Canada have a new recommendation regarding the second H1N1 dose for children.
The new recommendation is:
·  A second dose is NOT REQUIRED if your child is a HEALTHY 3 to 9 year old

The following recommendations remain the same:

·  A second dose IS REQUIRED if your child is over 6 months and less than 3 years old regardless of their health
·  A second dose IS REQUIRED if your child is 3 to 9 years old and has chronic medical conditions
If your child received their first dose at a Health Unit clinic and needs a second dose, the Health Unit will call you to book an appointment if you don’t already have one.  If you already have an appointment booked, but your child no longer requires the second H1N1 dose, please call the Health Unit to cancel your appointment at (705) 474-1400 or 1-800-563-2808, extension 2252.
Note:  This information is subject to change based on Ministry directive.
