General Parking Information


Hours of operation: -Monday to Friday - 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
-Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays excepted
Free Parking: Lots 2 & 4:
-2 hours free parking
-one free use per day
-obtain a ticket from ticket dispenser upon entry
-return ticket to attendant upon exit
Lot 8:
-15 minutes free parking
-obtain a ticket from ticket dispenser upon entry
-place ticket face up on your dashboard
Overnight Parking Bans: -November 1st to March 31st.
-Part 3, Section 24 (15) of By-Law 2002-001 prohibits the parking of vehicles on any city street between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
-Part 3, Section 24 (19) of By-Law 2002-001 prohibits the parking of vehicles on any city street within twelve hours of posting snow removal signs and forty-eight hours of a snowfall during the period November 1st to March 31st both inclusive.
-Part 7 of By-Law 2011-234 prohibits the overnight parking of vehicles on any Municipal parking lot between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. with the exception of Levels 1 thru 4 of Lot McIntyre 4 (Parking Garage) or in areas designated by the Parking Supervisor.

On-Street Parking

  • Provided by Pay 'n Display machines and single head parking meters.
  • Rates range from $1.00/hr to $1.25/hr.
  • Minimum payment of $0.25.
  • Meters do not accept pennies, nickels, or dimes.
  • On-street disabled parking is provided for a maximum of 2 hours. There are no parking fees for this service. A valid disabled permit must be displayed appropriately in the vehicle.
  • Loading zones are for commercial vehicles only. They must be properly signed and be in the process of loading or unloading. There is a 20 minute maximum for this service.

Parking By-Law Information

The following regulations are in effect for all City streets: No person is to, at any time, park a vehicle in any of the following places:

  • on a boulevard, unless approved by authorized sign;
  • within 3 metres of a fire hydrant;
  • within 90 metres of the scene of a fire in progress;
  • in such a position as to prevent the removal of any other vehicle previously parked;
  • on any sidewalk;
  • on any bridge or within any subway or within 15 metres of the entrance or exit thereof;
  • in front of any fire hall or on the opposite side of the street for the full width (plus 7.5 metres each way) of the fire hall;
  • for a distance of 9 metres from of any entrance to a hospital;
  • within 6 metres of any corner;
  • in front of a public entrance to a hotel, a theatre while the theatre is open to the public, or a public hall or church while the hall or church is open to the public;
  • in any public lane or entrance to a public lane;
  • in any place where authorized signs prohibiting parking are displayed;
  • on any street for more than 24 hours;
  • for overnight parking on any street the hours of 3:00 am and 6:00 am during the period from November 1 to March 31.
  • on any street for advertising a vehicle for sale;
  • on any street for the purpose of washing, greasing, or repairing a vehicle except for immediate repair due to an emergency;
  • on the roadway side of any vehicle already stopped or parked at the edge of a street;
