How To Search iPAC
- On the top iPAC menu, select the "Search" tab.
- You will see a new screen that says Search at the top, with two boxes in the middle of the screen.
- The default index is Any Keyword Anywhere which searches author, title and subject all at once.
- Type in a few words from the title or subject i.e. "house haunted" to retrieve "The House on Haunted Hill". Press Enter.
- You will now see a hit list summarizing all records that contain the search terms you entered.
- If you used the "haunted hill" example, there would be 54 records displayed on the summary screen.
- To see details about the title you are interested in, click once on that title.
- You will see details about the item, and near the bottom of the screen, the Status will show if the item is in our out.
- If the item is out, you can place a hold, except for videos and DVDs. Select "Request Item" from the side menu.
- You will be prompted for your bar code and PIN at this point. Use the Tab key or your mouse to move from the bar code field to the PIN field -- do not press Enter until both are entered.
- To start a new search select a new index and type in new search terms in the search box at the top of the screen, or Select "Refine Search" from the top menu beside the Go button.
- For help with searching, try the Power Search option or the Help button. Please feel free to ask any library staff member to help you to search iPAC when you are in the library.
