The Corporation of the City of North Bay is currently seeking applications for the position of Field Tech I


Reporting to the Infrastructure Engineer/Senior Project Manager, the Field Tech I is responsible for coordinating field survey operations ensuring the safety of the survey crew, equipment maintenance, collecting and providing accurate survey data and post survey field data analysis. 

The Field Tech: Performs design and tender review, completes site inspections to observe compliance with specifications for construction projects, prepares inspection reports and corresponds with project authorities.  Other responsibilities include the installation and processing for flow monitoring and traffic data collection as well as operating CCTV equipment for the analysis of City infrastructure. 


  • Two (2) year College diploma in Civil Engineering or other related discipline or equivalent acceptable experience.
  • Certified Technician (C.Tech) designation or eligible for membership in Ontario Association of Certified Technicians and Technologists (OACETT)
  • Two (2) years related experience (preference given to applicants with sewer and water works experience)
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and quality control testing.
  • Comprehension of contract drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to use GPS, levels and total stations and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Knowledge of traffic data requirements.
  • Must possess a valid unrestricted Ontario Driver’s License.

Hours of Work:    7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday (plus overtime as required)

Environment:       Unionized

Hourly Rate:         $32.00 per hour
