Building Inspector I

Applications are invited for the position of Building Inspector I within the City of North Bay’s Building Department. Under the direction of the Chief Building Official, carries out the statutory duties of Building Inspector I, and is responsible as assigned and appointed for the enforcement of the Building Code Act and Regulations and other By-laws in accordance with appointment By-laws as they relate to residential projects. Examines plans, obtains information for issuance of building permits, conducts inspections and maintains accurate records. Conducts investigations, issues Provincial offences Certificates and summons. Carries out duties of Municipal Law Enforcement Officer, Property Standards Officer, Provincial Offences Officer and other related duties as assigned by the Chief Building Official.
The hourly rate for this unionized position is $31.01 per hour for 35 hours per week. In 2022, the hourly rate will be $31.20 per hour for 37.5 hours per week in accordance with the CUPE Local 122 Collective Agreement.
