The Corporation of The City of North Bay is accepting applications for a new permanent full-time position of Business Analyst.

Under the supervision of the Manager, Current Operations, and working closely with the Director, Information Services, the Business Analyst will work with City stakeholders that rely on and use the City’s services, software and hardware to evaluate current business processes, identify and document requirements, identify areas for improvement as well as develop and assist with the implementation of business solutions.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Consult with key stakeholders to determine business objectives and success factors;
  • Review, analyze, evaluate and document user needs;
  • Conduct business analysis and research to identify key metrics and opportunities for improvement;
  • Work with information technology professionals to develop solutions that meet business requirements;
  • Present requirements, workflows, findings and recommendations to stakeholders;
  • Communicate financial and operational impact of proposed solution using analytics to support recommendations;
  • Assist management, stakeholders and consultants to prepare and create requirements and specifications for business solutions and procurement documents;
  • Assist in ensuring business processes are operating efficiently;
  • Remain current with latest processes and advancements to automate and modernize systems.

Key Competencies and Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent combined with five (5) years of relevant experience;
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) required. Experience with reporting tools and software and familiarity with programming and software development considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated understanding of Business Analysis techniques, and the ability to analyze the impact of a change on existing systems and business processes;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with management, peers, and other stakeholders and facilitate information gathering and decision making sessions;
  • Analytical and inquisitive, with the ability to think creatively, work independently and deliver high quality work with minimum supervision;
  • Ability to positively impact operations and effect change;
  • Detail oriented and extremely organized with strong time management skills;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills to provide information and report analysis to internal and external partners;
  • Familiarity with municipal businesses and regulatory processes considered an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • The incumbent will be required to work in office with occasional requirements to work in various departments located in different buildings across the organization.

The annual salary range for this non-union position is currently $74,952 - $93,687 with an evaluation scheduled to be completed after 12 months. The City of North Bay is an Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) employer.
