North Bay, ON – April 13, 2022 – North Bay’s Public Art Committee has opened its call for submissions for the 2022 Traffic Box Design initiative.
Artists and designers have until May 11, 2022 to submit digitally created images, high-quality photographs or scans of original artwork for consideration. Submissions must be in a digital format and will be used to create an image wrap on a traffic control enclosure within in the City. These highly visible enclosures are pole mounted, metal boxes at controlled intersections that operate vehicular and pedestrian traffic signals.
Launched in 2020, this initiative is aimed at strengthening the prominence of public art within high pedestrian traffic areas, provide an opportunity to recognize local and regional artists and improve beautification within the City. To date, 20 traffic boxes in various locations throughout North Bay have been wrapped.
