COVID-19 Update: Municipal Playgrounds Closed

North Bay, ON – March 30, 2020 – Effective immediately, all outdoor recreational amenities, including municipal playgrounds and outdoor exercise equipment are closed.

This measure, which is in accordance with the most recent provincial directives, is aimed at helping to reduce potential exposure the COVID-19 virus.

This new order closes all communal or shared, public or private, outdoor recreational amenities everywhere in Ontario, including but not limited to playgrounds, sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, off-leash dog parks, beaches, skateboard and BMX parks, picnic areas, outdoor community gardens, park shelters, outdoor exercise equipment, condo parks and gardens, and other outdoor recreational amenities.

The province has indicated parks, trails and other greenspaces would remain open for walking through, although residents are reminded to follow the recommendations of public health officials regarding social distancing, safe handwashing and hygiene.

The City continues to monitor the situation and, in consultation with health officials, will make additional changes as required.
