North Bay, ON – Dec. 30, 2021 – The City of North Bay would like to remind residents that as of Jan. 1, 2022 the weekly garbage limit will change to two bags/containers household per week instead of three.
The maximum weight for each bag/container is 15 kg (35lbs), each. Containers shall not be larger than 150 L (33 gal.). Bag tags are available for purchase at City Hall on occasions when residents have more bags than the permitted limit. The cost for bag tags as of Jan. 1, 2022 will be $2 per bag.
Each household will be permitted to place a maximum of four additional bags at the curb on its scheduled garbage collection day as long as the bags over the limit are properly tagged.
For industrial, commercial and institutional properties, the weekly garbage limit will change to 10 bags/containers instead of 12.
This new bag limit will help to make the City more environmentally sustainable by increasing diversion, preserving landfill space, saving natural resources and reduce our impact on climate change.
