North Bay, ON – May 9, 2023 – Armed Forces Day will be returning to the North Bay Waterfront on June 7, 2023, with exciting air demonstrations, static displays and more.

“Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for the community to show its appreciation to the men and women who have and still are proudly serving in the Canadian Armed Forces,” said Mayor Peter Chirico.  “We’re encouraging everyone to come out on June 7 and show their support for our military personnel.”

Armed Forces Day 2023 will run from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the North Bay Waterfront and all activities and entertainment are free to the public. Memorial Drive will be closed from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.

“This will be the 11th year that the City of North Bay has hosted Armed Forces Day in person, where the community has come together to celebrate and show its support of our Armed Forces.,” said Honorary Colonel Jake Lacourse. “This year’s theme is Agile, Integrated and Inclusive.”

Armed Forces Day is held annually in North Bay to recognize members of the United States Air Force who, as part of NORAD and in support of the mission of the Canadian Air Defence Sector at 22Wing/Canadian Forces Base North Bay, contribute to the successful bi-national organization and have been part of the North Bay community for over 70 years.

“Armed Forces Day not only recognizes the critical role that our military personnel play in keeping our country safe, it’s also an opportunity for us to connect with the community as fellow citizens and neighbours,” said Colonel Richard Jolette, 22 Wing Commander.
