North Bay, ON – April 28, 2022 – Sidewalk construction and interlocking brick replacement along a section of Oak Street West between Memorial Drive and Algonquin Avenue will begin next week.
Sidewalk installation between Memorial Drive and Foran Street is expected start May 2. The work includes sidewalk construction on the southwest side of the road, a narrow roadway widening, and a new curb and gutter. Project is tentatively scheduled for completion by June, 2022. Traffic along this portion of Oak Street will be reduced to local access only.
Work to remove the interlocking brick sidewalk between Cassells Street and Algonquin Avenue and replace it with concrete will also get underway. The brick in this area is being replaced due to its condition and rate of deterioration. The concrete will be poured later in the week, weather permitting and asphalt will be added on either side concrete sidewalk in the coming weeks.
This work may result in short traffic delays, drivers are advised to leave extra time for travel in this area or take an alternative route to their destination if possible. The City of North Bay thanks residents for their patience while this infrastructure project is completed.
