North Bay, ON – Jan. 15, 2020 – Starting Feb. 1, there will be one hour of free, on-street parking at all pay-and-display areas in the Downtown and an end to paid parking at 4:30 pm instead of 6 pm.
Quarterly parking permit fees in the Lot 4 parking garage will be reduced and overnight parking fees will be eliminated for levels one through four as of April 1. In addition, a 50-per-cent discount on parking permits for those who live within the boundaries of Downtown Improvement Area will also be available at that time.
Bylaw amendments to enact user fee changes to allow the on-street changes to move forward were approved by Council Tuesday. The parking garage changes were also approved, although the bylaw has not yet been brought forward.
The new initiatives are designed to make parking in the Downtown more convenient and to encourage more people to live in the core of the city.
