Traffic Disruptions: Algonquin-Front-Jane Intersection

North Bay, ON – Oct 17, 2022 – A section of Jane Street will be closed and traffic on Algonquin Avenue and Front Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction for up to three weeks starting Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022.

Jane Street, between Murray Street and Algonquin Avenue, will be closed to permit installation of new traffic control poles and associated infrastructure as part of an ongoing project to improve the intersection of Algonquin Avenue, Front and Jane Streets. Detours will be in place to assist drivers around the closure.

Additionally, Algonquin Avenue and Front Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic in both directions. Pedestrians crossing Algonquin Avenue at this intersection should continue to use the temporary pedestrian crossing lights and follow the path delineated by the contractor. Alternatively, pedestrians can cross at Worthington Street and use Copeland and Murray street to access Jane Street.

Motorists are reminded to abide by traffic/construction signs posted in local areas to ensure safe travel of all users. Every effort will be made to manage traffic for the safety of construction workers, pedestrians and residents. Road users should expect delays travelling through this section of Algonquin Avenue for the duration of the project.

The City of North Bay thanks residents for their patience while this important infrastructure project is completed. Please refer to the City’s website for construction drawings and project updates: https://www.northbay.ca/city-government/projects-public-engagement
