On-street parking on Main St. and some side streets will not be available within blocks under construction during the 'Making Over Main Street' project. However, all other parking spaces in the area will function as normal.

Free Parking

One-Hour Free On-Street Parking

  • Free one-hour parking is available in the Downtown Improvement Area (DIA) boundary with purchase of a Pay and Display receipt
  • Free parking sessions are available only through the pay and display machines.  Free parking cannot be obtained via the mobile app (Passport) or at coin operated metres.
  • One free parking session is available per vehicle per day

Please Note: On-street paid parking in the Downtown Improvement Area ends at 4:30 pm throughout the city. All other on-street restrictions still apply. 

Two-Hour Free

  • Two hour free in Lot 2 (Oak Street)
  • Two hour free in Lot 4 (Parking Garage)
  • You must display a pay and display stub to receive free parking
  • One free parking session is available per vehicle per day

Please note: Municipal parking lot enforcement ends at 4:30 pm.

You can obtain one free parking session per vehicle per day in the downtown.  Available options are:

  • One hour free on-street (within the Downtown Improvement Area (DIA) boundaries)
  • Two hour free in Lot 2 (Oak Street)
  • Two hour free in Lot 4 (Parking Garage)
  • Two hour free in Lot 10 (behind the Transit Terminal) for the duration of the reconstruction of Main Street only

On-street pay and display machines in the DIA now dispense free one hour parking session stubs.  You can also obtain free two-hour parking session stubs for Lot 2 (Oak Street) and Lot 4 (Parking Garage). Two-hour free parking will also be available in Lot 10 (behind the Transit Terminal) for the duration of the reconstruction of Main Street. You must display a pay and display stub to receive free parking. 

Pay and display machines will provide one free parking session per vehicle per day.

On-street paid parking in the Downtown Improvement Area ends at 4:30 pm.  Effective April 1, 2020, paid parking in municipal lots will end at 4:30 pm, instead of 6 pm.  Winter parking restrictions still apply.

Two hours of free parking is available in Lot 2 (Oak Street) and Lot 4 (Parking Garage). Two hour free parking will also be available in Lot 10 (behind the Transit Terminal) during the reconstruction of Main Street. All other municipal parking lots require paid parking.

All pay and display machines located on-street in the DIA will dispense one-hour free parking sessions.  Free parking sessions are not available at coin operated metres or through the mobile parking app (Passport).
