Heritage Committee recognizes Ontario Heritage Week 2021

North Bay, ON – Feb. 16, 2021 – The City of North Bay and the Municipal Heritage Committee is inviting all residents to reflect on the local history, heritage and people that have shaped the community the province marks Ontario Heritage Week 2021, which runs Feb. 15-21.

During Ontario Heritage Week, residents are encouraged to browse the catalogue of local properties with heritage significance available on the Heritage Committee’s website at www.northbay.ca/heritage.

The Municipal Heritage Committee looks forward to continuing its work in 2021. Activities include recognizing Burrows Country Store with a Century of Service Award and unveiling a new Heritage Site Plaque at Jack Garland Airport, once COVID-19 regulations permit.

The committee would also like to take this opportunity to announce the winners of the 2019/2020 Youth Photography Contest. Submissions were adjudicated based on the quality and the explanation of the heritage significance to the youth. The following prizes were awarded:

First place – Aerynn – The Walls

A runner up – Erika – Art of the Times

The North Bay Municipal Heritage Committee is made up of community volunteers appointed by North Bay City Council.  Established in 1996, the Committee’s mandate is to advise and assist Council on matters related to heritage places and buildings.
