Residential Property Tax Hardship Program

The City of North Bay's property tax hardship program is available to provide one-time assistance to residents who may be in tax arrears due to the COVID-19 pandemic or other life-changing events.

The program, which is administered by Low-Income People Involvement of Nipissing (LIPI), will provide payment assistance to eligible residential property owners whose primary residence entered into tax arrears after Feb. 1, 2020 due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic or other life-changing events.  The program will require qualified applicants to meet the following criteria:

  • Available to North Bay residents only.
  • Must be for primary residence (owner listed on title).
  • Aid to be provided for property tax arrears that are dated after Feb. 1, 2020.
  • Applications with property tax arrears prior to Feb. 1, 2020, are not eligible for the program.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to maintain property taxes under normal circumstances.
  • The program will contribute to applicants based on financial income and sustainable needs tests
  • Must demonstrate a significant impact on household income resulting from Covid-19 pandemic or other life-changing events
