  • Lifeguards begin summer beach duty
    North Bay, ON – June 29, 2023 – Lifeguards will be on duty for the summer season starting tomorrow at Shabogesic Beach. However, due to ongoing recruitment challenges, lifeguards will not be available at Olmsted Beach on Trout Lake until Aug. 1, and they will not be on duty at the Birchaven Cove this year.
  • Arts and Culture Nights performance postponed
    North Bay, ON – June 27, 2023 – Tonight’s planned Arts and Culture Nights performance by the Anishinaabe Mitchell Sisters at the Kiwanis Bandshell has been postponed due to rain and a special air quality statement that remains in effect for the area. The performance will be rescheduled to take place on a later date.
  • Celebrate Canada Day in North Bay!
    North Bay, ON – June 23, 2023 – The City of North Bay is counting down to its Canada Day celebrations.
  • Reminder: permits required for repaving on road allowance
    North Bay, ON – June 23, 2023 – The City of North Bay would like to remind residents that a street work permit and/or private approach permit is required prior to any installation or alteration of driveways, including repaving, within the municipal right of way.
  • City seeks Champions to help plan Centennial Celebrations
    North Bay, ON – June 21, 2023 – The City of North Bay is inviting applications from members of the public interested in helping to plan for the celebrations that will be held in 2025 to commemorate its 100th anniversary.
  • Temporary Road Closure - Sherbrooke Street
    North Bay, ON – June 20, 2023 – Sherbrooke Street, between Oak and Main streets, will be temporarily closed today starting at 9 am due to installation of communication ducts across road. The road will reopen before 3:30pm. During this period, Fisher Street can be used to access Main Street. All other detours remain in-place.
  • Trout Lake Road lane closures
    North Bay, ON – June 19, 2023 – Please be advised that there will be lane closures on Trout Lake Road for up to three days starting Tuesday, June 19 while work resumes to repair areas of the roadway that are delaminated and wheel-rutted. The work, which will be taking place between the Highway 11/17 bypass and Connaught Avenue, will affect one lane at a time.
  • City partners with Canadore for second annual waste audit
    North Bay, ON – June 16, 2023 – The City of North Bay has teamed up with students from Canadore College for a second consecutive year to audit the residential waste going to the Merrick Landfill.
  • Sidewalk replacement: McIntyre Street
    North Bay, ON – June 16, 2023 – Please be advised that curb and sidewalk replacement will be taking place next week on McIntyre Street, between Sherbrooke and Wyld streets. The work will start Monday at 7 a.m. and is expected to be completed by end of day Friday. The sidewalk on the east side of the street will be closed and the bus stop outside City Hall will be temporarily relocated south of Sherbrooke Street. Vehicular traffic will not be impacted.
  • Rain closes sports fields
    North Bay, ON – June 12, 2023 – Due to extremely wet conditions, most ball diamonds, soccer fields and football fields have been closed today. All games and practices are cancelled. Powerade Field and Minute Maid Fields at the Omischl Complex will remain open tonight.

    North Bay, ON – June 12, 2023 – The City of North Bay’s Arts and Culture Nights launches this week with the first in a series of activities that will be taking place at the North Bay Waterfront on selected nights throughout the summer.
  • City celebrates official opening of Police Playground
    North Bay, ON – June 9, 2023 – Mayor Peter Chirico was joined today by representatives of the North Bay Police Service and the North Bay Police Association to celebrate the opening of the newly revitalized Police Playground on Stones Street.
  • Lane Closures: Trout Lake Road
    North Bay, ON – June 9, 2023 – Please be advised that there will be lane closures on Trout Lake Road for up to two days starting Monday, June 12 while areas of the roadway that are delaminated and wheel-rutted are repaired. Traffic will be able to move through the work area and all transit stops will be operational.
  • Hammond Street and Third Avenue bridge removal
    North Bay, ON – June 8, 2023 - A construction project involving the removal of the bridge over Chippewa Creek at Third Avenue and Hammond Street is expected to proceed this summer to help improve safety and mitigate the risk of flooding to nearby properties.
  • Changes to traffic control at two intersections
    North Bay, ON – June 7, 2023 – The City wishes to inform the public of upcoming changes to traffic control at two intersections. On Monday June 12th, the intersection at Massey Drive and Blair Street and the intersection at Mountainview Drive and Wickstead Avenue will become permanently all-way stop controlled.
  • Lane closures: Cassells Street at Second Avenue
    North Bay, ON – June 5, 2023 – Please be advised that Cassells Street at Second Avenue has been reduced to a single lane while work is underway to install tactile indicator panels at all four corners of the intersection. Tactile indicator panels are used to help those with visual impairments detect when they are about to leave the sidewalk. The work is expected to be completed by end of day Tuesday.
  • Road Closure: Main Street West
    North Bay, ON – June 5, 2023 – Please be advised that a section of Main Street West between Harriet and Nipissing streets will be closed on Tuesday, June 6 from 9 a.m. until noon while asphalt restoration related to an earlier water repair is completed. Traffic will be detoured around the work area via Harriet and Nipissing streets. Transit stops will not be impacted as city buses will be able to move through the closure.

  • KPMG presents Cassellholme study results
    North Bay, ON – May 29, 2023 – The results were released today of a KPMG study reviewing the feasibility of a potential transition of Cassellholme Home for the Aged to a municipal home maintained by the Corporation of the City of North Bay.
