Algonquin-Front-Jane Intersection Improvements

North Bay, ON – Sept. 12, 2022 – Work to improve the intersection of Algonquin Avenue, Front and Jane Streets is scheduled to begin Sept. 13.

The project, which is expected to be completed by Nov. 11, is aimed at reducing the number of conflicts between both vehicles and pedestrians. The work will include the construction of opposing left turn lanes on Algonquin Avenue, reconfiguration of the existing traffic signals, rehabilitation of the surface asphalt from McLaren Street to Worthington Street and relocation of the Algonquin Regiment Memorial Monument and flagpole to Memorial Park between First Avenue and Second Avenue.

Construction will occur daily Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in all directions using temporary traffic control devices and/or flagging personnel.

Parking will not be permitted anywhere on Algonquin Avenue between McLaren Street and Worthington Street or adjacent side streets. Access will be maintained to all residential and business driveways, with the exception of when infrastructure is being installed across their entrances. Pedestrians are asked to follow the directions provided by the contractor when walking in locations of active construction.

The City of North Bay thanks residents for their patience while this important infrastructure project is completed. Please refer to the City website for tendered drawings and project updates: https://www.northbay.ca/city-government/projects-public-engagement
