North Bay, ON – Oct. 31, 2023 – The City of North Bay Parks Department will begin the removal of the Bourke Playground building this week, making way for a rejuvenated green space.
The decision to remove the building, which has served the community for years, but has now reached the end of its useful life, is in line with the Parks Masterplan.
An assessment conducted in 2017 revealed that the building was in very poor condition, and it has since seen limited use due to its deteriorating condition.
Once the building removal, which will begin on Friday, Nov. 3, is completed, the space will undergo a transformation into a green space aimed at enhancing the playground while prioritizing community safety. This new green space will include trees, grass, and park furnishings.
