Click, book, go! Dynamic dispatching launches Jan. 24th

The City of North Bay will be introducing a new, efficient and convenient public transit booking and tracking system beginning Jan. 24, 2021 with the launch of dynamic dispatching.

Transit will be operating a hybrid dynamic dispatch and fixed route system throughout most of the City on evenings Monday through Friday between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., Saturday between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. and Sundays between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Using the mobile app, or telephone for riders without access to a smartphone, passengers can select a pickup and drop-off location and confirm their ride. Once a ride is booked, dynamic dispatching technology matches multiple passengers headed in the same direction into one bus and directs passengers to a convenient bus stop location. The myRide NBT app, which is now available for download at the Apple or Google Play store is a trip planning app that can be used all day.  This app will provide time of arrival information and allow for real-time bus tracking.

During the Dynamic Dispatch hours:

  • Rides must be booked through the MyRideNBT app or by calling the transit line at 705-474-0419 if they are located in the dynamically dispatched zone
  • The south end of the city will be serviced by routes 8A and 8B, covering Marshall and Junction areas.
  • Dynamically dispatched buses will not follow traditional fixed routes

Blue: Dynamic Dispatch Zone

Green: Fixed Route Zone (Serviced by routes 8A and 8B)

Note:

  • Riders can request to travel from blue to green and the app will allow them to book an on-demand bus to a transfer point in order to reach their final destination.
  • If traveling from the green zone to the blue zone, riders will need to book an on-demand bus when they arrive at the transfer point (Transit Terminal or Northgate Square) to complete the final leg of their journey.
  • If riders request within the green zone, the app will suggest the best fixed route bus for their journey.
