North Bay, ON – Aug. 1, 2023 – Canor Construction Inc. is scheduled to begin construction on Tuesday Aug. 8 at the Third Avenue and Hammond Street Bridge.
The project involves the removal of the bridge, termination of the road connection between Third Avenue and Hammond Street, construction of two cul-de-sacs, reconfiguration of the multi-use pathway (Kinsmen Way) and the addition of new parking spaces. Resurfacing of Hammond Street to Hardy Street is also planned. The project is scheduled for completion in late fall 2023.
To allow for construction, a portion of the roads on Hammond Street (west of Hardy Street) and on Third Avenue (south of Fisher Street) will be closed for the duration of the project, with local access permitted. No detours will be provided for vehicles as this will be a permanent closure of the bridge crossing. Access to the Kinsmen Way will also be maintained, however the trail will be detoured during the different phases of construction.
